A toast!

Page 30 and 31 of The Creative License talks about drawing what you see. You're supposed to get a bagel (toast if you don't have a bagel) and map out the surface of what you see. I have to admit, it took a long time to get even what I did get on paper. I was a bit frustrated that I wasn't able to put on paper what I was seeing with my eyes. I kept at it though and some of the parts came out okay. Not sure if I'll revisit the drawing but I know I need to practice this some more.

It's amazing how detailed the smallest things in our daily world are when we actually look at them. Love your progress, what fun you seem to be having.

Wow, this is really cool the way you are approaching all of this. I love the dedication! The slice of toast is cool. Your interpretation of it is great!

Great job on the toast. In fact, I thought it was toast that had its innards nibbled out by someone who doesn't like crust.

It may be tedious to draw all that's there but by jove it looks like toast!

Keep up the good work!

I think you succeeded! You did a good job of inventing the marks you needed to recreate the little pits and rough texture you saw in your piece of toast. That's called drawing!! Trying a subject again, though, is a valuable and interesting exercise ... you will probably see that your approach changes and develops with every drawing you do.

So glad to see that you are enjoying this journey!

I think you have just the right amount of texture in your piece of toast. If you had done the allover texture, it would have been way too much.

I do see a toast andthe middle part has been perhaps buttered? I probably would have cheated and used a sponge to render the texture of the bread...

Mark,
I love it just the way it is..no need to go back or think twice about it...I think it's often interesting in art to leave parts empty...to be filled in by the imagination of the viewer. Good job on this!

I love all the comments I have gotten on this drawing. Who would of thunk? A piece of toast turned into pop art (not Pop Tart!)
