Unknown face

Well, spent a couple hours working on a portrait for my son's 7th birthday, and came up with this drawing. Only problem is... it doesn't look like him! Very frustrating but I chalk it up to practice. I was hoping to give it to him for his birthday, but I'd rather it look like him than some boy I've never met.

does it resemble him a little bit...I would think, just know his dad drew it and it was of him he would love it....just a thought...

I think Deborah is right. It's an effort that counts. You can make it a "custom" from now on on your son's birthday give him his portrait - he will have a track of growing up and it will give you fuel to improve your skills and practice. Just a thought...
You gave it a go!! That's a courage!!! Don't give up:)

I have the same problem, not a bad drawing, just dosn't look like the subject. I'm still hoping, don't let it keep you from drawing your kids. The figure is starting to come togather for me, I can see when I focus on just the face, which I've spent little time on, the likeness is better. Keep woking on it.
